Daily, we are writing into the pages of our lives. Daily we make decisions on how to react, what we say, what we focus on and how we impact our world.
Every day we make some great decisions and every day we make decisions that we question later on. Our blank books are being filled with history that shapes our world and the world of generations to come.
The question is what am I writing today?
The media is blowing up, Facebook is filled with hateful messages in both directions... it sounds like we are the end of life as we know it.... but really, it is only a page in the book and only the ending of the book will tell what that page meant in the bigger picture of the story.
The story of my life will have a portion of a page where the election takes center stage, but it is only one page and the rest I get to work on still. I have a difficult time keeping my own story straight: to act justly, to love mercy and to walk humbly with God, I don't have time or energy to worry about all the other stories that are playing out in this world. (no, I am not apathetic) I am sure that throughout history there are many pages when terrible or wonderful things happen that we thought would alter our lives and, in the end, it was just one page ....
Today, I will not comment on the merits of one person over another, I will focus on what I can do to make my portion of the world a better place.
Today, I will continue to write my story... some good and some bad... but I will do whatever i can to see the Shalom of God become more evident in our communities.
