Justice...DENIED.

Reading in the Proverb’s of the Bible this morning, I came across this:

"Speak out for the people who have no voice, for the rights of all down-and-outers. Speak out for justice. Stand up for the poor and destitute."

What does the look like for us a LifeLine CDC?

Our world is very complex.

We cannot work in an under-resourced neighborhood and not engage around the issue of incarceration and the failure to ensure proper reentry.

We cannot work in a community of primary Hispanic descent and not address the broken immigration system and work towards justice.

We cannot work with children and expect certain outcomes unless we also engage with the parents and help them have the tools and knowledge to raise their children well.

We cannot work on a community garden and not address the issues of food insecurity.

We cannot hand out a box of food and not talk about the underlying cause of the need for it and help people come up with solutions.

Justice means that we learn, teach and become part of the solution. We cannot be quiet about these issues and just keep pretend it does not affect us.

We are to speak up for the people who have no voice and stand up for the destitute.
